Dr Jenny Yu, The Welllow Pittsburgh

Dr. Jenny Yu is a board-certified ophthalmologist and oculoplastic surgeon whose aesthetic philosophy blends clinical precision with balance, grace, and natural restoration. Her approach to aesthetic medicine is rooted in evidence-based practice and personalized care, and she is deeply committed to empowering patients through education and delivering thoughtful, comprehensive treatment plans that honor each individual’s goals and unique anatomy.

Dr. Yu earned her BS with honors in Biochemistry and her MD from The Ohio State University. She spent 15 years as an academic clinician in the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC), where she refined her surgical aesthetic techniques. As Vice Chair of Clinical Operations, she led initiatives to integrate scientific innovation into patient care. Her work was recognized with funding from the National Science Foundation’s I-Corps program and the Department of Defense, supporting the development of novel technologies in facial trauma care. She and her team were awarded a patent for an innovative biomaterial designed to enhance drug delivery in reconstructive applications.

Dr. Yu’s passion for innovation and expanding access to care led her to co-found Project Theia, a Pittsburgh-based nonprofit focused on improving ophthalmological care in underserved areas around the world by conducting surgical missions, training surgeons, and introducing tools to improve service delivery. Since 2017, the organization has treated hundreds of patients in communities in Ghana, Kenya, India, and Honduras, while also supporting underserved populations in the U.S. - including Pittsburgh and Dallas - during the COVID-19 pandemic. Project Theia has published research on 3D-printed ocular prosthetics and pediatric vision screening and has educated public health officials in the countries it serves.

In 2020, Dr. Yu expanded her impact by entering the consumer health space. She served as a medical expert for Healthline and held the  role of Chief Medical Officer at RVO Health, a joint venture between Optum and Red Ventures. There, she led efforts to ensure medical integrity through evidence-based evaluation of a broad portfolio of wellness offerings, including skincare, supplements, and digital health content. Recognized for her leadership and commitment to science-backed standards in consumer health, Dr. Yu was named a PM360 Transformational Leader in 2023 and an MM+M Woman of Distinction in 2024.

As a Cofounder and Managing Partner of Sixth House, a venture studio advancing the future of care delivery, Dr. Yu backs early-stage companies building smarter, simpler, more human-centered models of care at the intersection of clinical health and lifestyle medicine. Sixth House invests in and advises early-stage companies across diagnostics, care delivery, and procedural innovation, with a particular focus in aesthetics and longevity. This work gives Dr. Yu access to cutting-edge technology that she evaluates and integrates into clinical practice at The Wellow—ensuring patients are on the leading edge of advancements in the space.

Beyond her work with Sixth House, Dr. Yu continues to advise companies in education as well as disaster relief organizations, while bringing both her technical mastery and a deep respect for each patient’s unique features to her aesthetic medical practice. Outside her professional work, she’s a devoted reader, traveler, and mother to two teenage daughters, Chloe and Sylvie, whom she shares with her husband, Ryan.

Sophia Moses is a skilled Physician Assistant with over 15 years of clinical experience, specializing in aesthetic medicine, including injectables and laser treatments. Since earning her degree in 2007 from Duquesne University, she has built a diverse career spanning primary care, emergency medicine, and plastic surgery, which has shaped her holistic approach to patient care.

A passion for helping individuals look and feel their best led to her transition from plastic surgery to aesthetic medicine, where she now focuses on enhancing patients' natural beauty and confidence. Her expertise in injectables, lasers, and minimally invasive procedures allows her to deliver personalized, effective treatments that cater to each patient's unique needs and goals.
