How It Works:
Neurotoxins, such as Botox and Dysport, are commonly used to smooth wrinkles and fine lines. They are injected into muscles and work to relax the muscle, which ultimately minimizes the appearance of expression lines and wrinkles. Common treatment areas include frown lines, forehead lines, and lines around the eye. Your provider can discuss other possible areas of treatment.

Avoid aspirin/blood thinning medications/herbal supplements for 7–10 days and alcohol for 24 hours before treatment to reduce bruising. Stop retinol products 3 days prior. Do not combine with other facial treatments—schedule at least 2 weeks apart. Let your provider know if you’re pregnant, breastfeeding, or have medical conditions. Arrive with clean, makeup-free skin.

Most feel minimal to no discomfort during the procedure. Topical anesthesia is not needed for this treatment.

You may experience mild redness, swelling, or tiny bumps at the injection sites, which typically resolve within 15–30 minutes. Occasional bruising may occur and subside in a few days.

For the first 4 hours, avoid lying down, bending forward, or touching the treated area. For Avoid exercise, alcohol, heat exposure, facials, massages, and tight hats or headbands (if forehead was treated) for 24 hours. Do not apply makeup the day of treatment and avoid massaging or pressing on the area. If bruising occurs, use a cool compress. Avoid aspirin/NSAIDs after treatment—Tylenol is safe if needed. You may resume retinols and active skincare after 3 days. Results develop over 14 days; if needed, touch-ups can be scheduled 2 weeks post-treatment.

Generally, there is no downtime after your treatment. It is important to avoid exercise 24 hours after your appointment.
